The First Call From Daycare

My heart starting beating fast when I saw the number pop up on my caller id at work. It wasn't quite the same number as daycare but close enough that I figured it was probably a different extension at daycare. When I picked up the phone I heard "It's Miss Jessica from Circle of Friends." I braced for the worse but she was only calling because Aubrey had slept all morning from the time I dropped her off at 7:30 to 12:15 when she called. I was very surprised since she slept 7.5 and 7 hrs the two nights before. She said she had been checking in on her and she was very soundly asleep. She asked if I wanted her to wake her. I said yes since I was a little worried about her sleeping that long during the day after such a long night of sleep (plus I want her to sleep tonight!). I was also a little worried sometime else was wrong but was reassured my all my mom friends at work that it's just fine, she's growing plus it's a new adjustment this week. She woke up then and took a bottle and then took another 1+ hr nap in the afternoon and then fell asleep during our walk after work. I'm not sure what to expect tonight. I'm sure she is just worn out from all the new excitement of daycare. She does sound a little stuffed up but nothing too serious. Thanks for those germs Jonah! :) Pray for a good night of sleep for me and her!

Let the Germs Begin

So we survived our first day! Brian and I dropped her off at 7:30. We were greeted by Miss Jessica, pictured above. Every morning we fill out a sheet letting Miss Jessica know how her morning was. During the day, it will be filled out with nap, feeding and diaper times. It's a great way to know how her day was without being there. Miss Jessica said she only cried once when she was in the middle of feeding her and had to stop for a second to tend to another baby. I did pretty well, was able to fight back the tears before they really came streaming out. Lots of deep breaths got me through the morning. I only called once to check in on her!
I am realizing how easy she is going to pick up germs. When I picked her up this afternoon, a little boy named Jonah was sitting in a bouncer with lots of snot coming from his nose and Miss Jessica confirmed he had a cold. Bring on the germs! I'm just hoping he was kept away from the other babies most of the day.
So we made it past the first day. Brian is gone the rest of the week so we will miss him and look forward to having him back on Friday. It will be nice to have Kathy's help on Tuesday and Wednesday.
And oh yeah..it's very weird to call her young daycare teacher Miss Jessica but that's what they do! :)

Two Month Check Up & Shots

Aubrey had her two month checkup today. She weighed in at 10 lbs, 6 oz and is now 22.5 inches long. She did well when she received three shots- cried a little at first but then was fine and has been pretty happy the rest of the night. Dr. Hankins said she is doing great!

First Friend

Aubrey's first friend, Mallory, born Sept 11. It was crazy to put them side by side and see how much they change in six weeks. Aubrey looks huge next to Mallory though she had just weighed in at 8 lbs 8 oz at her one month appt. Mallory and Aubrey were both delivered by the same doctor. It's pretty close on which one had the most hair. There must be something in the West Bend water for fast deliveries and lots of hair! It will be fun to watch them both grow!

Four Generations

We went to Iowa City on Sept 18 -21 to meet Iowa family and friends. Our first night we took Aubrey to meet my Grandma O'Brien at the nursing home. She was very excited to meet Aubrey and got a chance to hold her. Grandma wanted us to take her aound the place to meet the nurses and other residents. One lady came out of her room and said "is that dog for real?" I think she saw the back of her head with all the hair and thought she was a dog. My dad turned her around to show the lady that no it was a baby, not a dog. Quite priceless.
